I went to this talk last night by Dutch design historian Wibo Bakker: Pictopolitics – the development of pictograms 1960-1975.
While we ended up being shown more acronyms of the warring parties than the pictograms they were arguing about, it was a thorough telling of an international and turbulent slice of design history that hasn’t been looked into previously.
Suffice to say look out for his next article/book. I think it’ll make for a good read when all his research is documented. And hopefully it’ll have a few more pictures.
